If your shooting a scratch score it's most likely an open club face issue with an undesirable fade. This fades the ball not so much SLICE. A slice will move right almost immediately after Impact. I would not recommend standing closer to the ball. Try working on the range. If the tournament comes before you can work things out then avoid hitting the driver instead and go with the 3 wood.
